 Abergavenny registers (BTs)
Transcript of the Abergavenny BTs for 1725-1812, plus the year 1696.A copy is held in the Society's library (Accession 105954).

These were transcribed by Dave Woolven in 2001 from photocopies of the BTs, some of which were in poor condition.

Notes

The sheet for 1696 is in Latin. 'Jacob' has been transcribed as 'Jacob' but it could well be 'James'.
'Rice' is probably 'Rees'. There is a surname of 'Phea', this could be 'Phillip/s'.
Over one third of the entries for 1725 have been lost.
There has been some overlap where one incumbent went from Lady Day 1754 to Lady Day 1755, the next incumbent going from 1 Jan 1755. Both sets of entries have been included.
The photocopy for 1789 has had the edges chopped off, thus losing either the dates or the abodes.
There is a sheet clearly marked '1789' but by comparing the folds & creases, it is evident that the marriages are written on the back of the sheet of baptisms & burials for 1788.
Although there are BT's for Baptisms & Burials in 1805 & 1806, there are no marriages. The sheet for 1804 is actually marked '1805'. Both sides of the paper have been used, baptisms & burials on the one side (these are marked '1805') & marriages on the other side (these are marked '1804')
A large part of the page containing some of the entries for Nov & Dec 1812 has been torn out.
